The website says sellers can Update your advertisement at any time. But I think it is pointless making changes to your ad when everytime you do you have to wait for your ad to be approved. I think this is a disadvantage to seller's, as people who are searching for garage sales will not be able to view yours until it is approved again and who knows how long this takes, but long enough for your ad to be missed by potential buyers. Currently I feel that I am not getting my money's worth as the delay in approval is a disadvantage to me.

Thanks for your comments, Debbie. I do get the occasional phone call about this issue so I thought I would post a response here for all to see.
More than anything, I would like to remove the approvals process designed into this website. It takes a lot of effort to manage. However, human nature being the way it is, some years ago before the approvals stage was included, the website was often targetted by spammers and ads, reviews etc could contain suspect content. Even with the Security Check required now to post a review, I am suprised how many spammers insist on posting offers to sell drugs or promote suspect sites. Because of the approvals step, none of these get through to my customers.
The approvals step has ensured that the quality of ads, reviews and comment posted on egaragesales is of the highest quality and no-one has had to complain about any content found on this website. Now that I don't receive problem ad content, the temptation is there to remove the approvals step, but will that allow bad content to creep in once the spammers find out?
All ad changes are relayed to my mobile alert and so I am usually able to approve ads within a few hours wherever I am. I do advise sellers to only make essential changes the day before the start of their garage sale because this is when the buyers are returning to gather street addresses. I do keep a much closer eye on new ads and changed ads on Fridays and I manage to get most ads listed within an hour on Fridays to make sure no-one misses out.
The approvals step means that sellers can make ad changes whenever they like and as often as they like on the spur of the moment. I know of other websites that require advertisers to contact them during business hours to have changes made. I feel the egaragesales method gives the seller much more flexibility to control their own ad.
I hope this has provided sellers with an understanding of the benefits of our approvals system. I'm happy to receive more comment or questions about this topic.
Regards, Rob
